Gerard Maguire

Gerard is a professional educator having worked for eleven years as a teacher and thirteen years as a school principal.   He has had considerable involvement in a full range of academic, cultural and sporting activities and believes that patience, resourcefulness and compassion are essential elements in the development of the uniqueness and potential of each person.

Having been married for 23 years, Gerard believes that meaningful relationships (including his role as husband and parent) are fundamental in order for the youth of today to accomplish their personal objectives.

Gerard is the former head of the Combined Independent Colleges, has an outstanding record of participation and achievement in sport at all levels and has 24 years experience coordinating and supervising student camps.  He is a former member of the Junior Schools Heads' Association of Australia (J.S.H.A.A), a member of the Australian Council for Educational Administration and is a founding member of the Sunshine Coast Independent Primary Heads Association (S.C.I.P.H.A). Words such as 'courage, commitment, character, celebration, challenge, communication, compassion, confidence, cooperation and courtesy' are what typify the programs in which Gerard has been involved and are a direct reflection of his belief in 'teaching' as a vocation rather than as a career.  Above all, Gerard believes that his greatest professional desire is to make a genuine and positive difference to today's youth and that he has the willingness and energy to achieve this goal.
