The Solution Network Australia Foundation is a tax exempt charity and tax
deductible gift recipient that is committed to the eradication of youth
homelessness through a generational process of community strengthening that
actively engages young people. Our model involves collaborative,
non-competitive, community-based initiatives, utilising existing resources and
community strengths.
Our strategy is long term and emphasises generational change, intergenerational
co-operation, community and neighbourhood empowerment and cross-community
networking, resourcing and support. Our policies and programmes are strength
based, solution focused and community inclusive. In developing our strategies,
establishing trust has been fundamental to collaboration within the community
and as a result Solutions has consciously and deliberately avoided participating
in competitive government funding.
The Virtual Community Warehouse clearly proves the willingness to co-operate and
share, and has already resulted in tangible cost and time savings for the
community. Less funding has been required to run events and programmes and
resources and manpower have been used more effectively, reducing waste,
inefficiency and leveraging available funding. One of our key performance
indicators is to see community service organisations established and programmes
able to be trialed without the need for additional funding. It also provides the
opportunity for anyone living in neighbourhoods to do something to strengthen
their community without spending a cent!
We believe this strategy - true collaboration and cooperation within the
community - is essential to the eradication and prevention of youth
homelessness.
